Glencoe Farm specializes in the development of horse and rider according to the Traditional European Training System.
         Dressage trainer Sylke Hillmer-McDonald is a Bronze and Silver USDF medalist.She started riding in Germany at the age of 5 and competed in Dressage,Eventing and Jumpers as a junior rider.After moving to the US,she has trained horses and riders thru the FEI level in Dressage.Sylke has continued her education riding in Clinics with Dr.Reiner Klimke,Klaus Balkenhol,Robert Dover,Betsy Steiner and others.She believes that there should be a harmonious relationship between horse and rider and that both should enjoy what they do.The correct development of both is crucial to reach this goal.
                      Calvin McDonald is a native of Ireland were he competed and trained Jumpers in Europe at the International level.In his early twenties Calvin joined the Irish Show Jumping Team and competed all over Europe and also North America and Canada.As a young rider Calvin has trained with such Equestrian Greats as Major Joe Lynch( a former coach of the US Event Team),Major Sodowsky( who competed with Burt deNemethy in the last Olympics before WW2) and Robert Hall(who was the youngest rider to become Captain at the Spanish Riding School and owner of the Fullmer Riding School in England).After relocating to Canada and then California Calvin has trained ,bred and competed horses thru Grand Prix and taught students to achieve their goals.
